Before Vikings Donal Logue Was Jimmy the Cab Driver on MTV

From annoying cab driver to Viking King:

Donal Logue stars as King Horik in History Channel's Vikings

In previous seasons of History Channel’s Vikings fans saw Donal Logue portray King Horik. But how did Donal get his big break?

Turns out it was back in the 90s on MTV as Jimmy the cab driver. Jimmy McBride prided himself on his music knowledge and would tell his captive audience of paying customers all about the music greats of that era. Donal revealed the following about his character:

Jimmy is a real innocent character … Total enthusiasm, but zero circumspection.

During the height of his MTV success, Donal even got a chance to guest host MTV‘s 120 Minutes alongside Greg Dulli from the Afghan Wings. You can watch a clip of this below (and apologies for the bad quality, but we only had VCR back then):

You can also check out Jimmy the cab driver in a couple of clips below:

VIDEO: Michael Hirst Weighs In On a Vikings Video Game

Find out if Viking’s writer Michael Hirst thinks a video game of the show is a good idea or not:

Recently there was the announcement of a couple of new games coming out that are inspired by the History Channel’s hit series, Vikings. But what about a video game?

Viking’s creator and writer, Michael Hirst, got the chance to discuss this topic with recently. As well as the possibility of a video game, Hirst got to talk about what it is like to work on such an amazing show. It turns out this TV series was one he was hoping to write about for a very long time. He also talks about many of the various places across the world that owe their legacy in some way or another to the advent of the Vikings.

Michael also brooches the opinion that perhaps the Vikings were not the savages that raped and pillaged we all thought they were. This is a concept that fans of the TV series are now starting to believe was a false representation – especially considering archaeologists are now finding evidence to also dispute this. Perhaps we have been living with the Viking clichés for far too long and it now time for a chance?

Which brings him around to his idea of what the perfect Viking’s game should be. You can find out his answer in the video below:

Viking’s Alyssa Sutherland: If Aslaug Was a Video Game Character

Alyssa discusses what it’s like to ‘live the dream‘:

Alyssa Sutherland stars as Aslaug in History Channel's Vikings

Recently, Alyssa Sutherland, the Australian actress who plays Ragnar’s (Travis Fimmel) second wife, Aslaug, in History Channel’s Vikings, spoke to about what it’s like starring in Vikings. She had plenty to say, including:

  • What she has learned about Vikings from being in a TV series historically based on them.
  • What she thinks of her character, Aslaug.
  • The differences between the two opposing religions present in Vikings: Christianity and Paganism.
  • What it’s like being the least liked wife of Ragnar according to the fandom.
  • The challenges of being a celebrity within the spectrum of social media.
  • Vikings the video game – who do you think she would base her character Aslaug on?

Lagertha Will Discover Her Sexuality in Season 3

Katheryn Winnick & Alexander Ludwig Discuss Vikings:

Katheryn Winnick stars as Lagertha and Alexander Ludwig stars as her son Bjorn in History Channel's VikingsIt is a long wait until Season 3 of History Channel’s Vikings, but luckily Katheryn Winnick (who plays Lagertha) was happy to chat about the upcoming season at San Diego Comic Con this year to TV Fanatic. She is eager to discuss the fact that Lagertha will certainly grow in Season 3:

Lagertha goes through a major change in Season 2 and even more in Season 3 and she in now in a position of power. She … has a lot more responsibilities. She’s come into her own in Season 2. I feel, [now that] we’re half way through Season 3, I feel like her dynamic will change. We’ll see her in a different light. She discovers … I’m not sure if I’m allowed to say this … her sexuality.

Katheryn also points out that while many fans love the strong shield maiden aspect of Lagertha, it is, in fact, her challenges and vulnerabilities that makes her character so popular.

TV Fanatic then asks Alexander Ludwig (who plays Ragnar’s son, Bjorn) about how, historically, the story of the vikings eventually shifts from being Ragnar’s (played by Travis Fimmel in the TV series) story, to his son’s story. Alexander had this to say:

Michael [Hirst] is an exceptional writer and I really leave that up to him. It’s so great because I don’t have to try to be anything, you just read these great scripts and he’s already implemented that slowly in the third season … He was a boy in the second season and I really tried to play that …  and now, in Season 3, he’s a man. You see him learning and taking after his father.

It seems that while Season 2 was Lagertha’s season for coming into her own, Season 3 is the time for Bjorn to blossom.

The two Vikings stars have plenty more to say about the show and the upcoming Season 3 in the video below:

VIDEO: First Season 3 Trailer Revealed

Here we have the very first trailer video for Season 3 of History Channel’s Vikings!

Floki with a crown in Season 3 of the History channels VikingsIt is a very foreboding video clip with the Seer (John Kavanagh) overshadowing the clip with his prophecies. To break it down, this is what the Seer predicts we’ll see in Season 3:

  • A battle that will occur on one river that has two shores and three sides. While the term ‘three sides’ may be a little obscure, it is possible he is talking about three opposing sides. Could he mean Ragnar (Travis Fimmell), King Aelle (Ivan Kaye) and King Ecbert (Linus Roache)? Or is there yet more infighting between different viking factions?
  • Who is that body floating in the water?
  • Someone is being forcibly held down while their arm is being hacked off
  • Ragnar seems pretty happy with the human heads he is bringing home
  • Why does Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) have a long blonde braid? Is he hiding someone under his jacket?
  • Then we see Floki reach for a bloody crown. This could mean a multitude of things. Did he kill a king? Does he plan to be king? Or is he merely retrieving it to hand it on to Ragnar? Only time will tell…

Then the Seer is laughing at us and telling us to be patient. Yeah, easy enough for him to say when we are the ones who have to wait until 2015 for the Season 3 premiere!
